Influence of the Shape on Reliability of Area Value

Abstract: In the spatial model we have calculated areas of planar objects and areas of the region of reliability of area. Analysis of the results has exhibited influence of different factors on accuracy of area values, in particular, influence of the shape of landscape regions (characterised by the index of compatibility). Our examination of correlation of shape and maximal admissible error at a point (or of the size of the circular shape drawing pen) resulted in a construction of the corresponding regression function. Applications of our results are expected in map digitalisation and in actualisation of spatial computer databases.
