Some Formal Aspects of the Map Legend of Regional Geomorphological Division

Husár, K.: Some Formal Aspects of the Map Legend of Regional Geomorphological Division. Kartografické listy, 2002, 10, 4 figs., 1 tab., 3 refs.

Abstract: The paper contributes to the formal evaluation of the Map of Regional Geomorphological Division QvIRDG) by two important Slovak geographers (E. MazUr and M. Lukni). Its output is identification of four groups of gemorphological units by the degree and completeness of their differentiation, while it is possible to presume that they reflect the different levels and completeness of their cognition. The detected formal ‘drawbacks” of the map in question pose indirect questions and stimulate discussion about the theme, which can be concentrated into the question whether the revealed formal drawbacks of the MRGD are the results of: a) insufficient cognition as such, b) insufficient formal/logical and methodological apparatus of the authors, and c) reflection of objective structure of geomorphological units.
