Map Sign Definition and its Sense in Map Language Theory

Abstract: This article is about relation between definition of map sign and theory of map language. Three base terms defined map sign: graphic unit, semantic and position. We analysed this three terms and described syntactic rules for grammar of map language. Theory of map language (Pravda 1990, 1997, 1998 etc.) and theory of formal laguage (Chomsky 1957, 1968, Hopcroft a Ullman 1969) are used.
