Adaptive maps for the crisis management

Abstract: Cartography can play important role through decision making process in crisis management. This paper is focused on particular cartographic method improving such decision making – so called adaptive maps. Basic principles of adaptive mapping are discussed altogether with implementation issues for crisis management. Last part of the paper is devoted to specific cartographic research streams related to adaptive mapping – exploratory cartography, map like geocolaboration medium, and analysis of cognition in map use.
