Abstract: The relative richness of the Czechoslovakian atlas production inspired us to choose the study focused on four atlases published in 1935, 1966, 1980 and 2002, which were described and compared on the basis of selected quantitative characteristics capturing their structure, content, composition, scales of maps resolution and applied methods of map representation. The aim was to show the scope of the atlases specific differences, resp. similarity with the creation of their evaluation "ladder", yet with certain degree of subjectivity.
