Two interpretations of map editing

Pravda, J.: Two interpretations of map editing. Kartografické listy, 1997, 5, 2 figs., 1 tab., 9 refs.

Abstract: Map editing is the process of cheking a map or chart in its various stages of preparation to ensure accuracy, completeness, correct preparation and interpretation of sources used, and legible and precise reproduction. This is a general definition. Reality, however, is often more complicated. On example of editing Land Cover Map of Slovakia pursuing the methodology of the CORINE Project it has been proved that the projecting of a map, cartographic generalization of the land cover classes, their signing (marking by colours, structural screens and figural sings), graphic and compositional solution of a map bear all significant traits of an authors work (in the legal sense of the word).
