Abstract: One of the important morphometric parameters of areas, i.e. shape (form) of areas of regional typification is the subject of this article. Particularly the definition of rate of compactness in application on areas of regional typification were approached. The primary data source used for explanation was the map at scale 1:500,000. It was a set of 14,228 areas, which created in total 31 land cover classes on the third hierarchic level and occur in the territory of Slovakia.
