Abstract: Errors occur not only in texts (linguistic errors) but also in graphic works. Two groups of errors exist in maps: metacartographic and map language errors. Metacartographic errors are errors in map concept, errors due to inappropriate mathematic basic (projection), errors due to application of inadequate criteria of cartographic generalisation. objective errors and some other. Among the map language errors those due to use of unsuitable expression means (above all map signs), errors in application of unsuitable expression method, errors due to location of sings, errors due to use of wrong morphographic operations, incorrect syntax, etc. are worth mentioning.
