Exploitation of stereoscopic observation for geomorphological mapping

Bělka, L.: Exploitation of stereoscopic observation for geomorphological mapping. Kartografické listy, 2005, 13, 4 figs., 17 refs.

Abstract: The paper describes and evaluates the usage of non-contact methods for geomorphological mapping in various scales. There is discussed the exploitation of two overlapped aerial photographs or satellite images, called stereomodel, for mapping of georelief and relations among particular terrain elements. The paper describes three dimensional observation as a reliable tool suitable mainly for identification of large scale surface forms with both natural or human origin. Captured elevation data is the main result of the mapping process allowing cartographers various ways of visualization of studied area such as blockdiagrams, anaglyphs or videosequences. These outputs are the proper tool for understanding of georelief of appropriate area without the need of a field survey in couple of relates studies.
