Abstract: The paper brings an overview of applications of the CORINE land cover (CLC) data layers in production of map of land cover and its changes in Slovakia carried out at the Institute of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. It characterises the data layers CLC90 and CLC2000, as well as CLC maps produced in Western Europe. It briefly describes and illustrates the different approach applied to the CLC maps produced in Slovakia at scales 1:100 000, 1:500 000, and 1:1 700 000.
