Current changes of atlas cartography

Kozáková, M.: Current changes of atlas cartography. Kartografické listy, 2005, 13, 3 figs., 1 tab., 13 refs.

Abstract: The term “atlas” was used to refer to a collection of maps, systematically selected and arranged on uniform paper size using standard map layout and uniform design, generally in bound (book) form”. Today the term is also used for a collection of maps on other media (digital form). Digital atlases offer different possibilities to interact with the maps. The map interaction concepts can be characterized by their customizing possibilities, kind of links, cartometric abilities and analysing functions. These new parts of atlases need new conceptions, which are as various as an atlas creators.
