Abstract: The aim of this article is to show the design methodology for quality evaluation of digital elevation models. It contains information about available technical standards that deals with evaluation of the quality of geographic data: data quality elements, subelements, data quality measures, methods of evaluating the quality of geographic data and also the metadata about the quality of geographic data. This methodology is applied on digital elevation models generated from basic maps of Slovak republic in scale 1:50 000.
