Abstract: The combined coding scheme for medical images proposed in L71 is analyzed. This image compression scheme serves for reducing the blocking artifact, which is undesirable in clinical enviroment. In the presented paper the transform approach is also extended for remote sensing of images. Based on simulation results, a discussion about the use of a combined coding scheme is presented.
