Zeman, M.: Digital Map Equivalents in Slovak Environmental Agency. Kartografické listy, 2000, 8, 3 figs.

Abstract: Georeferenced colour raster map in background of any map composition is basement of the most Geographical Information System (GIS) applications and their final presentation. Digital map archive has been built in the Slovak Environmental Agency (SEA) since 1997. The archive contains digital map equivalents (DME) in various scales that are used for different GIS applications and thematic mapping in urban planning, nature protection, waste management etc. DMEs are optimal tool to control, visualise and implement Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements into any GIS coverage. Detailed information about digital map archive and applications are available at SEA homepage of Remote Sensing Department: http://www.sazp.sk/DPZ. Pros and cons of DME usage in Slovakia and problems of digital map products from the official mapping services are discussed briefly.
