Abstract: The aim of the study is to present the proposal of the map based on the CORINE land cover database as an integrated whole. This map will provide the basic information on occurrence and area of land cover classes, as well as their mutual relationships at scale 1:5 mill., and a closer view of the present landscape structure of Europe. Twelve generally accepted characteristics, which will be applied to the procedure of the initial works on map project, are included in the proposal.
