Abstract: The paper aims to identify occurrence of selected landscape elements (solitaire, lines of trees, clumps of trees and field margins) in the specific region with scattered settlement. Landscape elements were identified on two different levels, first level: according of compliance with the criteria of Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (including also landscape elements on permanent grassland). In the second level, landscape elements were identified near roads, railways, water flows, inside the urban areas and within the built-up areas. Three different map sources were used covering the period from 1950 to 2017 from the oldest to the youngest: historical digital orthophotomap of the Slovak Republic (1950), digital orthophotomap of the Slovak Republic (2003) and digital orthophotomosaic (2017). The method of visual interpretation was used to identify the landscape elements. The results show that a decrease in the number of elements and their area was recorded, but within the region of interest there is still a relatively large occurrence of landscape elements.
