Abstract: Demands on the automatization of cartographic outputs at maximum level with contemporary preservation their quality, leads to effort to determinate right visu-alization for individual themes. One of the easiest ways, how to automating carto-graphic visualization in the frame of desktop GIS, is cartographic tradition usage. The aim of the paper is to establish optimal rules for visualization of selected climatologic characteristics by analyzing various atlases. The main accent is put on colors in map content and correctness of diagram usage. Interactions of colors and diagrams are for climatologic map typical. We can find continuous and discrete characteristics on cli-matic maps together. Issue of topographical base of climatologic map is discussed too. Reason why we need to solve this problem is, that climatic characteristic is not possi-ble to evaluate in administrative boundaries. Necessity of phenomena localization in the map is one of key reasons for display landscape skeleton. Topographical base and thematic layer interaction is one of the aspects that are noticed too.
