Abstract: The aim of this article is to show, how geographical information systems can be used in urban studies. The article explains which spatial data are necessary for creating high resolution digital elevation model (DEM) and which interpolation method is appropriate. The main goal is to show which spatial terrain analysis and simulations are suitable for optimalization of urban studies and how the urban studies affect the spatial processes.
