Abstract: Image processing becomes more and more integrated in the different cartografic production steps, from softcopy photogrammetry via computer assisted photointerpretation up to printing. This paper concentrates on the role of digital image processing of remote sensing data for mapping and GIS purposes, and especially on digital ortophotos.
